High-Speed Rail - Watertown to Madison (WisDOT)
M Squared Engineering, LLC (M2) has been involved in numerous railroad and railway projects throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. However, this is the first cross-state corridor project with a new rail system. Unique site challenges, accelerated schedules, and project design constraints have presented quite a challenge to not only the M2 team but to the entire project team. Under this contract awarded by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, M2 partnered with HNTB and 16 other smaller firms and will perform a hydraulic analysis for all of the bridge crossings and the drainage crossings within the floodway. The time line for M2‘s portion of the project was tightened due to delays in processing the original contract and the need to first have all of the bridges alongside the existing railroad built. |

USH
41 Reconstruction - Brown County, WI (WisDOT)
M Squared Engineering, LLC (M2) worked with HNTB on the USH 41 Reconstruction
Project (Preliminary and Final Engineering). This project connects the Chicago-Milwaukee
metropolitan area with the Fox River Valley industrial area and recreational
areas of northeastern Wisconsin and upper Michigan. Increasing demands on USH
41 call for expansion from a four-lane divided arterial freeway to six lanes
in Brown County from Orange Lane to Glory Road. During the Preliminary Engineering
phase, M2 completed SSR hydraulic analyses for five bridge crossings over Ashwaubenon
and Hemlock Creeks. In addition, hydrologic analysis was performed by M2 to
verify FEMA flow values. |

Family Dollar Development - Green Bay, WI
M Squared Engineering (M2) was retained to develop a site in Green Bay by a Florida developer. M2 will perform an ALTA survey, topographic survey, and CSM as required for combining three existing parcels. Asbestos abatement will be required for an existing building on one of the parcels. There is an existing floodplain on the southern third of the property. As the design proceeds, flood proofing of the proposed building and detention pond will be required. Other design services include grading, stormwater, pavement design, landscaping, erosion control, and utility plans. Site detail sheets and construction specifications will also be required. The stormwater management plan will need to comply with the City of Green Bay regulations. The developer is hoping to start construction of the Family Dollar Store in 2011. |

US
Route 150 - Morton, IL (IDOT)
The project will improve US Route 150 beginning at Urbandale Avenue, in East
Peoria to Detroit Avenue, in Morton, Illinois. These improvements will increase
the two-lane rural highway to a three-lane urban highway. M Squared Engineering
(M2) is
responsible for the Location Drainage Study for this 6.0 mile corridor. Some
site challenges include the meandering Dempsey Creek, located in a 40-50 foot
deep ravine throughout the entire corridor.
