IDOT PTB 207 / Item 40 Replacement of the CH 22 (Dorans Rd.) Bridge Over I-57

Under a Various-Various contract for IDOT District 7, M Squared Engineering, LLC (M²) was tasked with preparing a TS&L for the replacement of the existing CH 22 (Dorans Road) bridge over I-57. M² led the project to replace the existing bridge, which currently has substandard vertical clearance over the interstate.

The proposed improvements include raising the bridge and its approaches to increase clearance, replacing the existing structure, and enhancing safety features along both Dorans Road and I-57. These safety enhancements included new guardrails and bridge pier impact attenuators.

As part of the TS&L scope, M² prepared preliminary roadway design plans and Length of Need calculations to define the limits of the required work.
